Summary

A human skeleton was ploughed up and reported in February 1988. The bones were aligned north-south and the body was removed with permission of the Home Office to allow further study.

10 February 1988. Site visit by A. Rogerson.
On rear of destroyed section of Fossditch. Skeleton ploughed up and reported.

Bones left in position by finder, roughly aligned north-south with cranial fragments to north. Rapid excavation by finder showed all bones apparently in ploughsoil of gravelly loamy sand. Metal detector produced no finds except numerous barbed wire fragments. Home Office licence obtained by A. Rogerson to lift bones - report in file by J. McKinley (NAU).Midpoint of skeleton 9.4m west of fence and 116.0m north of fence.
