Summary

Aerial photogrpahs taken in 1975 showed the cropmarks of an undated rectangular enclosure at this location. Subsequent fenland fieldwalking in 1988 recorded scatters of prehistoric flints, pot boilers and pottery sherds along with post medieval gunflints.

Possible sub-rectangular enclosure.
Rather dubious. May just be modern cultivation marks or previous field boundary.

18 March 1988. Fenland fieldwalking. Weathered plough soil, beans; good conditions for context 4 only.
Context 1: general scatter; odd flints and prehistoric pottery across field. Site SRY BF.
Flints are gunflints - F. Healy (NAU).
Context 2 at 6121 9469: concentration of pot boilers, sparse, and Roman pottery, sparse, on edge of island. 24m northwest-southeast by 23m northeast-southwest, at 1.5m OD. Site SRY 19.
Context 3 at 6108 9491: concentration of pot boilers, sparse, on side of island - sandy patch. 34m northeast-southwest by 25m northwest-southeast, at 1.9m OD. Site SRY 20.
Context 4 at 6096 9497: concentration of pot boilers against dyke side and probably truncated by it. A couple of
flints as well. Less than 16m northwest/southeast by 33m northeast-southwest. Site SRY 21.
