Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking recovered two prehistoric flint flakes, a Roman dolphin type brooch, a 9th century disc brooch depicting a backward-turning animal and a post medieval copper alloy Jew's Harp.

February 1993. In spoil from 'anti-gipsy' ditch.
Roman dolphin-type brooch; missing spring; catch-plate bent; wings decorated with narrow vertical grooves; central rib along bow has rope pattern.
9th century disc brooch, backward-turning animal, milled border. Animal with three-toed hooves and triangular end to tail. No ring-and-dot decoration. Triangular nick out of edge where catch-plate would have been. Broken lug, single transverse.
