NHER 24646 (Find Spot record) - Mesolithic and Neolithic worked flints

January-March 1988. Fieldwalking.
Northern part of field examined on several occasions by [1].

Found in vicinity of [2] (finder's Area A; Context 1):
Mesolithic worked flints, including broken tranchet axehead, possible broken microlith, oblique plain burin, core, 2 possible cores, flakes and blade.
Probable Neolithic worked flints, including flakes, a blade, rough core and scraper.

Found "north-west of Hethersett White House", in vicinity of [3], (finder's Area B; Context 2).
Mesolithic worked flints including 2 cores, 1 'micro core', 2 core tablets, 3 blades and flakes.
Neolithic worked flints, including 4 scrapers, 2 cores, 1 serrated blade, blades and flakes (including a soft-hammer struck example from axe manufacture).

Identified by J. Wymer (NAU) and compiled by W. Milligan (NCM) 12 April 1988.
It should be noted that two separate lists of the finds from Areas A and B were produced; one set handwritten by W. Milligan and the other typed, possible by J. Wymer - see (S1). Most of the finds noted above appear in both lists, the most notable exception being the Mesolithic burin, which was only included in the handwritten list.
Most, if not all, of the finds from this site were later donated to the Norwich Castle Museum (finds from finder' Area A accessioned as NWHCM : 1999.1.22.13 and those from Area B (formerly NHER 24647) as NWHCM : 1999.1.22.14).

Found by [1] at [4]:
Prehistoric hollow scraper on thermal flint flake.
Identified by J. Wymer (NAU) and compiled by W. Milligan (NCM) 6 July 1988.
Previously recorded as NHER 24643.
The scraper was donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1999.1.22.12) and is listed as Neolithic in the museum's accession records.
