NHER 24725 (Monument record) - Medieval canal

Broad low band of silt running from bank of Great Ouse to within a few hundred metres of southern tip of island of Southery. In its central section it appears to be about 18-19m wide x 0.4m high. A recently cleaned dyke at 61009432 suggests feature might be quite shallow 1-1.2m and filled with silt and patches of shells. (Treat this comment about depth with caution!).
At west extremity ridge curves around and achieves a height of 1.2m spread of flood silt around this and overlies peat.
At east end very low and impossible to detect it beyond field boundary.
