Summary

This is the site of a medieval and post medieval settlement. A house was first recorded on the site in the 16th century. Field walking recovered prehistoric flints, pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods, as well as post medieval clay pipes and lava querns of unknown date.

Northwest part of field including Contexts 2 to 5, Context 10 and Context 12.
About 180 medieval and post medieval sherds collected. Definitely occupied (by a Sparhams manor customary tenement) in the 16th century, but very few late medieval/early post medieval sherds.
No specific surface evidence for a cottage built between 1568 and 1572. Still there in 1681.
