Summary

This is the probable site of the medieval manor of Wilcocks. A house is first recorded on the site in the mid 14th century, and 15th century accounts record the presence of a barn, a dovecote and other buildings. Field walking recovered prehistoric flints, including a concentration of prehistoric pot boilers, pottery dating from the Iron Age to the post medieval periods, post medieval clay pipes and lava querns of unknown date. Metal detecting in 2008 recovered a Romano-British brooch, Late Saxon stirrup mount, and medieval and undatable metal objects.
