Summary

A Neolithic arrowhead was found in the remains of an undated timber boat that was seen sticking out from the north bank of the river.

Flint scraper found by member of the public in this area on 30 January 2013.

September 2014. Water vole survey.
The boat was rediscovered during a finger tip water vole survey of River Little Ouse between Santon Downham road bridge (NHER 55400) and Santon Church (NHER 5689). The boat was found at TL81948764, northwest of the previously recorded location. No other boats were discovered during the survey, suggesting the location originally recorded was approximate (rather than exact).

September 2014. Field visit.
The visible section of the boat is approximately 14m long. It is constructed from overlapping wooden planks, with wooden ribs and iron fittings.
