Summary

Fieldwalking in 1988 recovered a few sherds of Roman pottery on the ridge in this area. However it is thought that this material has been introduced from nearby agricultural activities.

Map

7 December 1988. Fenland Fieldwalking.
Few sherds of Roman pottery on ridge. However some suspicion that this is introduced material. The ridge could be the drive to the farm (as shown on maps (S1)) rather than a roddon. Also there is a fair amount of modern rubbish on the top, so probably not in original context- does not solve problem of where it derived from.
R. J. Silvester (NAU), 8 December 1988
