Summary

Metal detecting here during 1998-9 and 2001 recovered quantities of medieval and post medieval metalwork. The number of cloth seals and coins was felt to indicate that this might have been the location of a medieval market. Other finds included a medieval rowel spur, a medieval bronze cauldron foot and duck head from a ewer and sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery.

Full Description

Winter 1988/1989. Finds on surface of ploughed field. Grid reference supplied by finders.
Finds suggest possible medieval market site.
One sherd of glazed red earthenware.
Fourteen cloth seals.
Medieval and post medieval coins.
Identifications by S. Margeson (NCM) and A. Rogerson (NAU).
