Summary

Fieldwalking in 1989 recovered a concentration of briquetage with some pottery sherds and shell. It is thought that these objects indicate the presence of salt production activity during the Roman period.

January 1989. On flat area of silt beside roddon.
Approximately 25m east to west x 26m north to south. Conditions: good, weathered ploughsoil.
Roman saltern site. Concentration of briquetage with a little pottery and shell. Set in dark soil with a reddish tinge.
