Summary

The remains of a medieval flood bank exist along the line of the parish boundary here. The central section survives, but the rest has been flattened.

Map

Name is a corruption of Bardyke.
Called War Bank on six inch Ordnance Survey map.
Floodbank dividing two parishes; survives in central section to over two metres high, but flattened eslewhere.
Probably same as the Indyke breached in 1337 (S1).

King's Lynn to Sutton Bridge Trunk Water Main (Plot 5).
Observation of works for laying of pipeline.
Largely flattened, cut by pipe route; shallow disturbed section showed natural silt make up.
