Summary

Cemetery staff collected a range of artefacts during grave digging over several years prior to 1989. Finds included quantities of Late Saxon, Neolithic or Bronze Age, medieval and post medieval pottery along with a glass bead of possible Early Saxon date, a post medieval finger ring, and coins of Harold and William I. Additional Saxon pottery was recovered from the cemetery in 1993, associated with a possible pit feature.

'Over several years before 1989'. Casual Finds.
Several finds have been collected by cemetery staff while grave digging.
These finds have been identified as a sherd of Neolithic or Bronze Age pottery, 44 sherds of coarse Thetford Ware, 384 sherds of medium Thetford Ware, 42 sherds St Neot's ware, small quantities of medieval and post medieval pottery, a glass bead, a post medieval copper alloy finger ring, and a groat of Elizabeth I.

April to May 1993. Casual Find.
Additional Saxon pottery sherds (S1) have been recovered while digging a grave, where a pit feature may have been cut. Soil from this grave was examined by [1] prior to back-filling, yielding several additional sherds. Between April and May several more interments took place and similar pit-like features were observed.
Details awaited from NCM of Early Saxon sherd.
