Full Description
1988. Stray Find. [1].
Found on surface of cultivated field to east of pond:
1 Mesolithic chipped flint axehead.
Identified by J. J. Wymer (NAU), 1 September 1989. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 5 June 2014.
Informant states that there was a market in this area; coins of William and Mary, and Victorian coins, lead weight and thimbles etc have been found.
E. B. Green (NCM), 1 September 1989.
September-October 2009. Stray Find.
1 Mesolithic broken flint axe/adze.
Identified by P. Robins (NCM). See description in file.
A. Rogerson, (NLA), 26 November 2009. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 5 June 2014.
The Mesolithic broken flint axe/adze listed above was brought in for identification a second time in 2019 [2]. Its bag records that it was found at [3] and potentially "...imported with hardcore to make-up the farmyard". It should also be noted that this could well be the same object as a broken "Mesolithic/Neolithic flint pick" recorded as having been found close to this location in around 1990 (see NHER 37232, originally recorded as NHER 28435).
See PAS record NMS-4B328E.
P. Watkins (HES), 25 March 2019.
