Full Description
1986. Found in fieldwalking at 15 to 20 metre intervals.
Six Roman sherds (identified by A. Gregory, NCM).
2 Late Saxon sherds.
Medieval and post medieval sherds.
Much worked flint and pot boilers.
See extract from (S1) in file. Remainder of (S1) in parish file.
E. Rose (NLA) 10 January 1990.
1998. Metal detecting.
Late Saxon bronze nummuler brooch. The front has been very severly over-cleaned, but seems to have a cicular ridge around the centre, with linear ridges radiating from it, and an incomplete border of half-circles producing a scalloped effect. On the reverse there is a scar from a strip applied to act as both a pin and a catchplate. The coin on which this brooch was based cannot now be identified. 9th/10th century. (S2).
A. Rogerson (NLA) 17 July 1999.
