Full Description
Mound, possibly a round barrow, discovered in area cleared of conifer plantation in 1983.
Visited by J. Wymer (NAU), 15 March 1990.
18m diameter, 0.80m high. Young pines planted on mound but to be removed.
J. Wymer (NAU), 30 March 1990.
December 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The mound described above, which may be a Bronze Age round barrow, is only just visible on imagery from a recent lidar survey (S1) [1]. It is not particularly clear or well-defined. It is located at the northern end of an area of very uneven, 'lumpy' ground, and, if assessed on the basis of the lidar alone, appears more likely to be of natural rather than archaeological origin.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 20 December 2017.
