Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting in this area from 1989 to 2003 has recovered a number of objects from the prehistoric and Iron Age to post medieval periods. This includes pottery sherds from all periods, as well as Early and Late Saxon brooches and Roman coins.

December 1990. Detecting in area adjacent to site NHER 1514.
1) 13th century bronze buckle with moulded barrel-shaped tongue rest with engraved ribbing.
2) ?Roman Conical weight with iron loop
3) Fragment of tapering triangular-sectioned rod; probably part of hinged leg (broken at start of lugs) of a medieval folding candlestick tripod. For comparison see (S1). This and (S1) illustration have transverse rib below lugs. Fragment has no surviving foot
