Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 1990 and 2024 recovered Late Iron Age (Roman issue), Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and a range of other, Late Iron Age/Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Iron Age/Roman possible scabbard mount; a Roman military buckle; Middle/Late Saxon strap end and disc brooch; a Late Saxon stirrup strap mount and hasp; a Late Saxon/medieval unidentified mount; medieval horse-harness pendants, a thimble, dagger chape and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval button; post-medieval buttons, a finger ring, crotal bell, swivelling fob seal and knife end cap.

All items are bronze and identified by S. Margeson (NCM).
9th century Middle Saxon/Late Saxon bronze strap end fragment, elongated animal head, with white 'paste' in ears and in central field (whitened niello?). To be photographed.
11th century stirrup strap mount (top missing). Quadruped with tail above back and upward-raised head and front paw. Two iron rivets in base flange which is very even and set at ninety degrees. To be photographed.
14th century circular seal matrix with loop on edge of reverse. Strutting bird. Legend TIMETE DOMINVM.
