Summary

Fieldwalking in 1990 in advance of the Wymondham bypass recovered prehistoric worked flints and medieval pottery sherds. Subsequent metal-detecting in 2016 and 2024 recovered Late Iron Age and Roman coins and a number of other metal objects, including an undated copper alloy possible bead; a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead fragment; a Middle Iron Age brooch; Roman brooches and a bracelet; a medieval buckle, coin weight and sword or dagger pommel and a post-medieval sword-belt fitting, harness mount, copper alloy and steel frizzen or hammer for a flintlock pistol/musket and lead weight.
