Summary

Fieldwalking in 1990 in advance of the Wymondham bypass recovered prehistoric worked flint and Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds. Metal-detecting in 2014 and 2025 recovered medieval to post-medieval coins and a range of other metal object, including a Roman brooch; a Late Saxon brooch, stirrup-strap mount and harness link or bit link; Late Saxon to post-medieval lead spindle whorls; medieval thimble, coin weight and lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval coin weight and copper alloy vessel fragment; a potentially medieval/post-medieval copper alloy probable needle and a post-medieval button, crotal bell, harness mount and lead weight.
