Full Description
December 1990. Fieldwalking.
Area examined by J. J. Wymer (NAU) following tree clearance. Good conditions within furrows containing conifer seedlings. Thin sand on chalk.
Sparse scatter of prehistoric flints.

1996. Fieldwalking.
Area examined as part of Little Ouse Valley Study. Flints and pottery recovered when site first identified. Subject to a further visit to recovered additional pottery sherds. Eighteen worked flints were recovered:
1 possible Mesolithic microburin (waste from microlith production)
1 possible Neolithic triangular arrowhead
1 oblique petit tranchet Neolithic arrowhead
1 possible broken or unfinished Neolithic arrowhead. Most likely a leaf-shaped arrowhead.
1 Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age thumbnail scraper
3 side scrapers (one double-edged, one possibly a blunt knife)
1 oval scraper
1 convex scraper
3 end scrapers
1 shatter piece (possible
These flints were identified by P. Robins (NCM).
Twelve sherds of pottery were recovered of which one was Iron Age and the remainder Roman. The Roman pottery was almost exclusively greyware, the exception being a single rim sherd from a Samian bowl. These were identified by A. Rogerson (NAU).
