Summary

Metal-detecting between 1990 and 2025 recovered a Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint end scraper; medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons; post-medieval tokens and a range of other, Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman key handle; a Roman/Early Saxon suspension ring; Early Saxon brooches; a Late Saxon brooch and buckle; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories (including a post-medieval silver dress hook); a medieval key, sword or dagger chape, box mount, book clasp, barrel padlock, tiny swivel, pendent bell, unidentified copper alloy object and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval book clasp, tailor's thimble or sewing ring and copper alloy vessel fragment and post-medieval sword-belt mounts, coin weights, a crotal bell, spur, scissors, probable priest fragment (a mallet-like tool used for killing fish or game), lead cloth seals and lead weights.

A medieval bronze key. For reference see (S1). Lozenge-shaped bow, ribbed collar, hollow stem; one surviving ward.
A medieval bronze sword or dagger chape, front plate. Shell-shaped base and 'crenelated' top edge. Openwork heart and trefoil. 15th century. See (S2), TYPE III.
A medieval bronze belt fitting with integrated attachment strip which has floriate pierced terminal and rivet and rove. Also central rivet and rove. Strip expanding into rectangular loop with outer edge in relief representing (stylised) animal head. Strip decorated with incised herringbone and muzzle of animal with incised transverse line. 13th to 14th century.

Early Saxon small-long brooch with flat cruciform head, worn but apparently undecorated, bow with transverse grooves on its upper part. Foot missing, old break. Single pin lug on reverse of head. See (S3).
