Summary

The shop and museum store here have an associated medieval undercroft. The building has a rendered timber frame at first and second floor level and a pantile roof. Six bays of the building face Charing Cross while two bays face Maddermarket. The 15th century undercroft is made from brick and has two bays with single order diagonal ribs.

Listing description:
Former use unknown, now shop and museum store with 15th-century undercroft.
Shop and museum store:- Rendered timber frame at first and second floors. Pantile roof. Corner site. Three storeys, jetty at first floor. Six bays to Charing Cross, two bays to Maddermarket. 20th-century picture windows at ground floor. Loading doors at extreme right. Sash windows with glazing bars and simple moulded surrounds. First floor loading-doors in third bay from right with glazing bars, simple moulded surround and flat hood. Plain box cornice. Hipped roof.
Undercroft:- brick. Two bays with single order diagonal ribs. West bay with hollow chamfered ribs and circular side chamber away from street. 20th-century east wall.
The building is graded II* because of the undercroft, one of an important group within the City Walls.
