Summary

These properties were once part of a single unified house. The building dates to the early 16th century but was heightened and extended to the rear in the 19th century. It has a flint rubble ground floor, a timber frame first floor and a pantile roof. The two central doors have 20th century pilastered surrounds. A survey here found that the medieval undercroft of the adjoining property (NHER 26153) continued under no. 69.

This building is amongst those listed in thesis (S4), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a two-storeyed 16th-century building, timber-framed at first floor above flint rubble walls. It may have formed part of a terrace, with each unit with one heated and one unheated room on each floor. A second floor was added at the same time as the rear extension in the 19th century.

Summer 2002.
During survey of undercroft of adjoining property (NHER 26153) it was noted that mortar for a blocked up doorway between the properties indicates that the door was blocked from No 69. Therefore the undercroft continues here.
[1] saw it to be filled with rubble.
