NHER 26158 (Building record) - Garsett House, 1 Princes Street

House, now office. 1589 on bracket. Timber framed, rendered.
Hipped pantile roof with brick gable-end chimney to left.
Three storeys with first and second floor jettied on decorated corner brackets (one broken).
Corbelled chimney with pediment above a tablet bearing the name 'Armada House' and a representation of a 16th century ship.
Two Dutch-style gables.

Ground floor façade has fragments of large frieze windows, with roll- moulded mullions. 18th century rear wing.
Some ?original ceiling beams.
R. Smith in (S4) states that he disagrees with analysis by A. Carter, dating building to 16th century on earlier foundations, with alterations in 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, a cellar being inserted in the 18th century.
