Summary

A row of late 18th century two storey red brick houses with timber spacers and a pantile roof. They enclose the remains of a medieval timber framed building of about 1500, or perhaps earlier still, the only example in Norwich of what was once a fully framed building.

Houses. Late 18th century with remains of a timber framed structure of about 1500.
Red brick with timber spacers. Pantile roof. Two storeys. Four bays.
Number 22. shop window with simple pilasters and architrave and glazing bars. Two small casements at first floor.
Number 24. Fluted pilasters architrave and flat hood. Two small casements at first floor.
Remains of 1500 structure: large wall-posts of one truss rise to wallplate level, empty mortices for windbraces run from post to the wallplate and at the rear there are signs of a single storey aisle.
Two crude posts rising from tie beam are remains of an original queen post roof.
This represents the only example in Norwich of what was once a fully framed building.
