Summary

This three-storey red brick former house dates to the late 18th century, although the rear was completely rebuilt in the 20th century. It has a central door with two-column Doric portico and a plain tile roof with four flat roof dormers. Beneath the carriage entry at the east end of the building are the remains of a 15th century brick and stone undercroft. It is listed Grade II.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former house now office. Late 18th-century façade. Red brick and plain tiles. Three storeys plus semi-basement. Seven bays: the two left-hand bays are recessed with road arch. Central door with two column Doric portico and pediment. Sash windows throughout with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches."

This undercroft is amongst those listed in thesis (S2), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as having a pointed barrel-vault with one hollow chamfered, transverse rib springing from moulded corbels at the west end. It is positioned beneath the entry to St Faith's Lane.
