Summary

This three-storey timber-framed building dates to the 17th century but was completely refaced and altered in the 20th century. It occupies a corner site and is jettied at first floor level on its longer Bedford Street façade. It has sash windows, a pantile roof and a 20th century shopfront. It is listed Grade II.

No 2 (formerly listed as No 23 Bedford Street and included in No 4 Bridewell Alley). Former use unknown, now shop. 17th century, completely refaced and altered in the 20th century. Rendered with pseudo timber-framing at first floor. Pantile roof. Corner site. Three storeys, jettied at first floor in Bedford Street. Three bays in Bedford Street and a long single bay in Bridewell Alley. 20th-century shopfront with central door in Bedford Street. Sash windows with glazing bars in top sash only. The first and second floor windows in the Bridewell Alley façade were included in the re-facing of No 4 Bridewell Alley. Fascia cornice.
