Summary

A flint and brick building, two storeys high with an attic and cellar, constructed to incorporate an adjoining 16th century building. The plaque on the front wall that displays the date 1670 and the initials W.A.W. (for William and Anne Watson) is a modern facsimile.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former weaver's cottage, empty at the time of re-survey. WAW 1670 on plaque now removed. 18th-century rear additions. Flint rubble partly rendered. 20th-century brick south gable and south-west corner. Pantile roof. Two storeys plus attic. Single bay. Rear access. Casement windows on street facade now covered. Fascia cornice."

This building is amongst those mentioned in thesis (S2), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a two-storeyed (plus attic and cellar), single-cell building, constructed of flint rubble and brick and built to incorporate an adjoining 16th century building. It is noted that the plaque on the front wall that displays the date 1670 and the initials W.A.W. (for William and Anne Watson) is a modern facsimile.

March 2020. Minor Amendment to Listing.
The mapped location of this record has been corrected.
When Listed in July 1978, this record was located at TG 22995 09159. This incorrectly placed it S of 1-10 Sherwyn House, St George's Street. It has been moved approximately 44m to the N of this point and is now located at TG 22982 09202, 63 George’s Street.
