Summary

This 17th century building is ranged along the street. It is timber framed at first floor level above flint rubble walls. The 18th century rear extension has determined the layout of the street range which has one gable end chimney stack that could be an original feature. The front pitch of the roof was heightened by one floor when the extensions were added. The tie-irons in the west gable are formed into the initials J.A.D for John Downes (d.1617) and his wife.
