January 1981. Building Survey.
Examined as part of Norwich Survey.
Two-storey flint rubble block with gable stack at western end. Interiors gutted and new roof laid on remains of original. First floor back wall has two four-light windows, pegged together with quadrant moulded mullions. The roof is very complex and has the added problem that most of the purlins etc. have been removed, leaving only the empty mortise holes. The remaining features of the block suggest a date of c. 1600.
See record form (S2) for further details.
It should be noted that the plan included on (S2) suggests that the above description relates to both 28 and 32 Golden Dog Lane. This is incorrect - No 28 (NHER 62394) is a separate builiding of late 18th-century date.
P. Watkins (HES), 14 November 2017.

This building is amongst those mentioned in thesis (S3), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a two-storeyed flint rubble block, with gable-end stack, two four-light windows in the rear wall and a butt purlin roof - all of which are regarded as indicative of a 17th-century date.
P. Watkins (HES), 14 November 2017.
