Summary

This building dates to the late 16th century building. It has three storeys and is timber framed on the north and west sides on the upper floors. The joists are supported by the principal ceiling beams which are unusually arranged to form an H-shape. A 19th century extension to the south has been added to accommodate stairs.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Former public house now shop. Early 17th-century extension along Lower Goat Lane. Rendered ground floor with timber-frame above. Pantile roof. Corner site. Three storeys, jettied at first and second floors on north and west elevations. Single bay. Two-storey extension jettied at first floor with two first floor windows. Door and 20th-century corner shopfront with glazing bars...Corner-posts and gable-end in Lower Goat Lane. Unusual ground floor ceiling-beam arrangement instead of the expected dragon- beam."

Three storey timber framed building with 18th-/19th-century cellar. Jettied on north and west sides. 19th-century extension to south to accommodate stairs.

This building is amongst those listed in thesis (S3), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a three-storeyed late 16th-century building, timber framed on two adjacent walls on upper floors. There is a reused 17th-century door surround at first floor level. Joists supported by principal ceiling beams arranged to form 'H' (unusual arrangement).
