Summary

Two-storey timber-framed building of early 17th- or 16th-century date, refaced in the 19th century. The present-day shopfront was added during the 20th century. Listed Grade II.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Former use unknown now shop. Early 17th century, refaced in 19th century. Painted brick at first floor. Pantile roof. Two storeys. Three windows at first floor. 20th-century shopfront with off-centre door. First floor sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches. Paired modillion cornice. Two dormers."

16-18 Magdalen Street is amongst the buildings noted in thesis (S2), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a 16th-century single-cell building that is timber-framed at first floor on the elevation. It is also noted that although the gable-end stack has been removed the associated stairs still remains.
