Summary

This building dates to the 17th century and is set back from and parallel to the street line. Two storeys high, it is constructed of flint rubble walls, and has a through passage to the south which originally had a doorway leading off to a now demolished room (NHER 739). There is 18th century panelling on the first floor. The block represents one variant in the siting of late medieval buildings in Norwich.

English Heritage Listing:
House at rear of No 29 Magdalen Street.
House, disused at present (1986). Possibly late 17th century with later additions and alterations. Flint and brick rubble with pantile roof. Two storeys. Entrance contrived in side through passage. Irregular fenestration including one horizontal window with metal stay bars. Remains of 18th century 1st floor interior include fielded panelling and wall cupboard with shouldered architrave. Partly rebuilt double butt-purlin roof. The block is set back from and is parallel to the street line and represents one variant in the siting of late medieval buildings in Norwich.
