Summary

An imposing steam pumping engine house for the water works, built in 1907 of polychrome brick on a cast iron frame. The engine was removed in the 1960s. The building was restored in 1991 and is now a visitor and display centre.

Steam pumping engine house for water works, 1907 polychrome brick on a cast iron frame. Very similar to the water works building at Hove, Sussex (now a museum of engineering).
Engine removed 1960s. Converted to display area 1991.
