Full Description
(Includes nos 3 and 5-9 Orford Yard). Veterinary surgery, house, livery stables, now commercial premises.
1902 by Boardman for John Pollock. Red brick and stone; ornamental stacks. Courtyard plan; house of four storeys and attics to Red Lion Street in 'Pont Street Dutch'. Three window range at first and second floors with French windows, canted oriel to right with tripartite window above. Two windows to third floor and bullseye above. Cut brick aprons, stone bandings. Dutch gable dated 1902, iron balcony first floor. Archway to left with 'SHOEING FORGE LIVERY STABLE JP' in spandrels. In yard are two storey former stables, with canted bay from house facing yard. Stables have cast iron dividers, horse ramp to first floor, sliding door to forge, gabled clapboarded hoist.
Added to List Grade II 1996 as complete example of city centre stables and surgery.
