Summary

A wooden bridge was constructed on this site in 1810, and was rebuilt as a lattice iron arch in 1844 for access to railway station. The present Foundry Bridge dates to 1886, when Thorpe Station (NHER 332), which it serves, was rebuilt. Foundry Bridge is over 16m long, and 15m wide, and was constructed in the station yard and rolled on to the abutments of the old bridge.

On site of wooden bridge built 1810, rebuilt as lattice iron arch 1844 for access to railway station, present bridge 1886 when station rebuilt. 55ft (16.8m) long, 50ft (15.3m) wide. Four girders each 4ft 2ins (1.3m) deep. The structure was constructed in the station yard and rolled on to the abutments of the old bridge.
