Listed building description states this began life as an early 19th century private house, but Thorpe Road (then Foundry Road) was not built until the 1820s, providing a terminus post quem. Building now public house; central door between two single storey canted bays. Overall first floor balcony on cantilevers, with exceptionally fine wrought iron balustrade and pillars supporting glass canopy. French doors above main door, sixteen pane sashes to each side. Box cornice. Building now hemmed in by late 19th/early 20th century terraces. Alterations proposed 1997 will keep the original balustrade but raise it by a couple of feet above balcony level.
