Summary

In 1829 the land here was purchased from the Bishop of Norwich by Blake Donkins and a terrace of houses was constructed with a communal garden in front. There was no change in planting throughout the 19th century but the front garden area no longer has divisions and some rear areas have been built over. It is one of only two communal gardens left in Norwich. The houses themselves are now recorded as NHER 66892.

1829 land purchased from Bishop of Norwich by Blake Donkins and a terrace of houses constructed with communal garden in front, symmetrical with grass walk, and at rear individual long gardens with service buildings. No change in planting throughout 19th century but front garden area no longer has divisions and some rear areas built over.
Graded by Norfolk Historic Gardens Survey as of regional importance as one of only two communal gardens left in Norwich. See (S1).
The actual houses are listed Grade II, yellow brick designed as overall facade with central pedimented bay on pilasters, paired pilasters to end bays.
