Summary

Site of post medieval market and modern fun fair. Cropmarks of ring ditches associated with the fun fair are visible on aerial photographs. Metal detecting has recovered over 200 post medieval coins probably dropped during the fair.

About 200 post medieval coins (not seen at NCM) reported.
Also Elizabeth I sixpence, 1582, identified by S. Margeson (NCM).

Cropmarks of ring ditches are visible in this field on aerial photographs dating to June 1954 (S1). These have not been mapped as they are almost certainly related to a modern fun fair. A fun fair with circular stands of similar size is shown at the site on aerial photographs dating to June 1955 (S2).
