February 2000. Visit.
Site visited by E. Rose (NLA) 17 February 2000 to monitor installation of sewers prior to main evaluation by NAU.
West side of plot taken up by sewer in trench revetted with corrugated iron, installed in the 1960s.
To east, 300mm of topsoil over sandy clay. Several pits filled with 19th/20th century rubbish, including an early Austin headlamp and several jars full of eggshells, also a sand floor and a mid 20th century sewage pipe of unknown origin sloping to road.
E. Rose (NLA), 18 February 2000.
2 May 2000. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of footings for a new bungalow.
A small medieval rubbish pit and a large pit or depression of post-medieval date indicated that this site had been used for waste disposal since the medieval period.
See report (S2) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S3).
D. Gurney (NLA), 7 February 2001.
