Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1990 recovered a 12th or 13th century seal. The inscription on the seal suggests that is was owned by someone called Galfridius.

Lead seal matrix; circular loop on edge (broken); fleur de lis in centre (very finely detailed). Inscribed S'GALFRIDIS ?CHORT (seal of Galfridius ? Chort). Personal seal. 12th/13th century.
