Summary

Metal detecting in this area between 1990 and 2017 recovered a range of objects. Finds of note included a Late Saxon bridle cheekpiece or harness fitting, a medieval lead papal bull, medieval coins including a 14th century Breton coin and a late medieval bridle mount.

15th century bronze mount fragment; one rivet hole, with feet of lion rampant in low relief - harness fitting.
13th century gilt bronze buckle plate with lion passant in relief (backward turning head and fine curling tail).
Lead bull Pope Innocent III 1198-1216.

Late Saxon bridle cheekpiece or harness fitting fragment. ?Ringerlia (crest). Moulded terminal, openwork angled frame, broken, four circular openings, at 'junction' a relief humna mask, projecting 'crest' on edge above. Identified by S. M. Margeson (NCM).
