Summary

Fieldwalking in 1990 and 1991 recovered Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. A subsequent watching brief in 1995 revealed no archaeological finds or features.

Late 1990/1991. Metal detecting and fieldwalking. Area northwest to west of school.
Nine medieval unglazed sherds, including two bowl rims.
One glazed Grimston sherds.
One bodysherd probably Thetford-type ware.
Two unidentified reduced bodysherds.
One Glazed Red Earthenware sherd.

10 March 1995. Watching brief.
Behind school. Foundation trenches for extension inspected, exposing undulating clay subsoil, land drains (not seen by
D. Gurney (NLA)) and made ground/topsoil. Cement poured in base, but upper parts of trenches visible. Nothing archaeological seen. Not much spoil available to examine for any further sherds. None found.
