Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1990 and 2023 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Late Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and other, Middle/Late Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Middle/Late Bronze Age socketed spearhead; a Late Bronze Age socketed spearhead fragment and tanged awl; an Early Iron Age sword-scabbard chape; Roman key fragments and a brooch; a pair of Roman/Early Saxon tweezers; a Middle/Late Saxon disc brooch; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval casket key, seal matrix, possible harness pendant, weight and thimble; a medieval/post-medieval spur rowel and a post-medieval harness mount.

General spread of pottery:
Three Roman greyware.
Two Oxfordshire red-slip, including largish base sherd.
One medieval unglazed, one glazed Grimston.
One oxidised Roman or late medieval transitional.
One unidentified sandy sherd.
Roman bronze key handle found. Pelta-shaped openwork decoration and remains of iron stem in socket. [1].
