Summary

In 1991 builders digging foundation trenches here observed various flints and bricks, with a wooden surface beneath. These features may relate to a former building on site, but no date was assigned to this possible structure.

January 1991. Builders' excavation for footings. In sunken garden, 0.9-1.2m (3-4ft) below surface, at a depth of a further 1.5-1.8m (5-6ft). Seen in deep footing trench for new building.
Flint and brick found (samples taken) 1.2m (4ft) wide with wood below that (samples taken).
