Full Description
the 1980s1980s. Fieldwalking.
Fieldwalking of OS (1928) field 18 yielded one flint flake, one post medieval black glazed pottery sherd, one glazed red earthenware sherd, and one late post medieval stoneware sherd.

24 February 1988. Staff Fieldwalking.
Rapid walk of field was undertaken while it was under winter cereal. Transects at about 20m intervals under medium conditions yielded 3 flint flakes and one rim sherd of late medieval or early post medieval pottery from the southern end of the field.

13 July 2013. Test Pit.
A 1m by 1m test pit was excavated by young visitors to Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse museum as part of the Festival of Archaeology 2013 and under the supervision of a member of the Historic Environment Service. Only the topsoil was excavated and no archaeologically significant deposits were encountered. Finds recovered included two possible flint flakes, burnt flint, three
fragments of post-medieval pottery sherds, two fragments of post-medieval clay tobbaco pipe
stem, fragments of post-medieval ceramic building material, clinker and a sherd of post-medieval/
modern glass.
