Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting in this area during 1991-99 recovered a variety of objects. Finds of note included a possible Roman spindle whorl, the base of a Roman mortarium, a medieval strap union, an early post medieval knife guard and stud.

Eighteen Roman coins (see form in file).

Two piece Colchester type brooch 1st century AD.

Medieval strap union with quatrefoil opening and four triangular bosses on frame.
Early post medieval knife guard.

Base of Roman (local fabric) colour coated beaker, 2nd/3rd century AD.
Rim of mortarium. Big grits, for example ironstone. Nene Valley (probably). Orange fabric.
