Summary

In 1991 eleven Roman coins dating from the 2nd to 4th centuries AD were discovered on the western half of Barnham Cross Common. They were found in three groups but after discovery were not kept separate. Further Roman coins were recovered by metal-detecting in 1996/1997, along with a number of medieval objects.

The finds below were recovered from the western side of Barnham Cross Common. A number of poorly located finds have also been recovered from across the Common and are recorded under NHER 5797 and NHER 65750. Those finds include at least one Palaeolithic handaxe; Mesolithic, Neolithic and Beaker period flint implements; Roman pottery and a Late Saxon or medieval iron spearhead.
