Summary

Fieldwalking in advance of the Yelverton to East Carleton gas pipeline recovered fragments of Roman, Middle Saxon and post medieval pottery, prehistoric flint flakes, smelting slag , butchered animal bone, medieval brick or tile fragments and a Roman copper alloy knife handle.

May-August 1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-Detecting Survey and Watching Brief.
Fieldwork carried out along route of Yelverton to East Carleton Gas Pipeline (Survey Blocks 43-52).
Finds recovered during initial survey include:
3 prehistoric flint flakes.
6 Roman pottery sherds.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
9 medieval brick/tile fragments.
2 post-medieval pottery sherds.
Undatable smelting slag and butchered animal bone.

The finds have been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1995.75).
