Full Description
May-August 1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-Detecting Survey and Watching Brief.
Fieldwork carried out along route of Yelverton to East Carleton Gas Pipeline (Survey Blocks 43-52).
Finds recovered during initial survey include:
3 prehistoric flint flakes.
6 Roman pottery sherds.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
9 medieval brick/tile fragments.
2 post-medieval pottery sherds.
Undatable smelting slag and butchered animal bone.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2). It should be noted that some of the finds listed above are only recorded in the site archive.
The finds have been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1995.75).
